Rotations & Preceptorships
Students from all around the world desire to gain experience through indirect or direct exposure in the medical field. However, many mission organizations shy away from having students assist them unless they are in their fourth year of medical school or are residents in training. This is where Hospitals of Hope differs. We want to encourage students to go work at our hospital, to see what it is like to work in a mission hospital in a third world setting.
I (Mike Wawrzewski) got started in missions before I had any formal medical training. It was only a brief exposure but it allowed me to have a goal in mind to push towards when studying had become cumbersome.
Rotations can be set up in Family Practice, OBGYN, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Orthopedics and Pediatrics. Typical rotations are from four to six weeks.
Hospitals of Hope has formal arrangements with PA programs at Yale University, Salus University, and Wichita State University, but we have hosted students from a variety of other schools, as well.
