Michael Wawrzewski is a native of Garnett, Kansas. He graduated with an Associates of Arts Degree from Coffeyville Community College in 1991 and then a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wichita State University in 1995 after completing the Physician Assistant program. He works as a Physician Assistant part-time at a rural Hospital in Satanta, Kansas and here in Wichita, Kansas at Wesley Hospital with the trauma surgery/critical care services.
Hospitals of Hope was founded by Michael Wawrzewski in 1998 after taking multiple short-term mission trips to medically undeveloped countries starting in 1992. The overwhelming needs existing in these impoverished countries moved him to develop a local organization that has acted as a medical clearing house for over thirty-two million dollars in surplus medical supplies to twenty-three countries. As a true visionary willing to make his ideas a reality, he worked to help develop the first mobile medical/dental called “Clinic in a Can” that was sent to Haiti, established a clinic that served over seventy thousand people for free and designed/built a twenty-three thousand foot second level hospital in Bolivia, developed a network of medical aid for local Wichita clinics serving the underprivileged/uninsured patients providing supplies/equipment, and organized thirty thousand dollars in aid for victims of the Greensburg, Kansas tornado. Mike is currently developing a pre-hospital Emergency Medical Service system in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia called EMW with a total of five ambulances and is expanding the work of Hospitals of Hope to Africa. He has worked as a full-time volunteer and staff member since 1998, spending two to six months outside the country each year teaching medical students and working with volunteers to develop our current and future medical care facilities.
Michael was the recipient of the 2005 American Academy of Physician Assistants Humanitarian of the Year award for his work with Hospitals of Hope locally and abroad.
Michael is married to Elizabeth, a Bolivian trained dentist. Michael and Elizabeth both work together furthering the ministry of Hospitals of Hope.

Daniel graduated from Wheaton College in 2004 with a BA in Communications. He has recently returned to his hometown of Wichita after spending a year teaching high school in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Previous to that, he lived in Chicago for five years where he attended school and worked in home remodeling. He has worked in the leadership of several ministries ranging from inner-city tutoring to European evangelism.
